Our Community Pumpkin Donation Drive
If you've been in our lobby, you may have wondered why we have a canvas of an elephant with a pumpkin hanging above our coffee bar. Since 2024, Belmont Animal Hospital has hosted an annual pumpkin drive, collecting leftover pumpkins and gourds to provide tasty treats for animals in need! Thanks to our generous community, donations have helped feed animals of all shapes and sizes, from local farms animal rescues to the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, TN.
We're doing it again! This year, we'll be collecting pumpkins from November 11th to November 26th.
To help keep the animals safe and our collection site clean, please follow these guidelines:
- No painted or decorated pumpkins. Paint, toothpicks, felt, and other attachments can be dangerous for animals
- No carved pumpkins. They can be easily be crushed in the pile and tend to rot quickly
- No soft, mushy, or rotten pumpkins. These can be difficult to manage and attract unwanted pests
- Pumpkins and gourds only! Please do not drop off hay bales, straw mums, garbage, or any other fall decorations. This is a pumpkin donation site, not a general drop-off or dump site
Please note: Pumpkins left after designated collection dates may be considered illegal dumping.
If you have leftover fall decorations, please do not leave them in our dumpster or our neighbor's dumpster. We simply don't have the space to accommodate these items alongside our hospital's daily needs. Instead, check out Metro Nashville's Convenience Centers for local disposal options.
